Update for Treasure Island and Tampa Bay Beaches: On September 27, the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce sent out a press release with updates on the beaches. Access to barrier islands remains closed for the time being. In the press release, the chamber quoted Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.

“Gulf Boulevard looks like a war zone. It’s not passable/dangerous. There is empathy you want to achieve. At this point it is not certain. They work as quickly as possible. There is huge debris all over the islands,” Gualtieri said in the news release.

In addition to debris, the chamber also warns of downed power lines. They reported five deaths. Two people died on Treasure Island, two in Indian Rocks and one in Dunedin.

In total, 132 sewage pumping stations are out of service along Pinellas beaches, and about 40% of residences are without power. For accommodations, please visit visitstpeteclearwater.com. For hotels, please email [email protected] to advise availability.
