“Pittsburgh Steelers tried to take over AFC North”

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers got exactly what they hoped for over the weekend and are now just one game away from being perfectly prepared for the bye week. After the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Cleveland Browns, the black and gold are just one game away from taking sole possession of the AFC North driver’s seat in Week 8.

The Ravens lost to the Browns and were 5-3 on the season. Cleveland is 2-6 and the Cincinnati Bengals, who lost to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8, are now 3-5. Now the Steelers have a chance to defeat the New York Giants and move to 6-2 and gain a one-game lead in the division.

The Ravens, Browns and Bengals are all 1-1 in the division entering Week 9.

Obviously, no win in the NFL is easy and the Steelers aren’t taking the Giants lightly despite their 2-5 record. They are 13-1 on Monday Night Football since 2000 and have won their last three games after suffering their first loss to the Washington Commanders in 2020.

With history on their side, the Steelers hope to enter the break with momentum. They’ll lean on Russell Wilson and an offense that just scored 37 points against the New York Jets and a defense that’s been among the best all season.

With a win, Pittsburgh will return to the second half of their schedule, where they will play all six AFC North games. With their destiny in their own hands, a win in the division could help them move to the top of the AFC playoff round. And if they have at least one home game at Acrisure Stadium, that will go a long way toward securing their first playoff win in seven seasons.

But first the Steelers have to beat the Giants.
