Popular restaurant chain closes 23 locations as part of insolvency proceedings

Red Lobster announced that it will close an additional 23 restaurants at the end of the month. The move comes after Red Lobster was forced to close over 100 locations earlier this year amid bankruptcy proceedings.

Red Lobster is in the process of selling itself to Fortress Credit Corp., which recently provided the nationwide restaurant chain with $100 million to continue operating its approximately 500 remaining restaurants in the United States.

Red Lobster is one of many companies currently struggling to survive as inflation continues to rise and consumers spend less, such as on dining out. Other companies struggling to survive include Boston Market, Pizza Hut, Buca di Beppo, TGI Fridays, Popeyes, Tijuana Flats, Cracker Barrel and Applebee’s.
