QB Conner Weigman is out for the third straight Aggie football game

ARLINGTON, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman will miss his third straight game while dealing with an AC joint injury, according to the Southeastern Conference’s gameday availability report.

This season, Weigman saw action in one game and five drives in which he threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns while completing 52.3% of his passes. He suffered the throwing arm injury during A&M’s season-opening loss to Notre Dame, but suffered a setback Thursday before the Aggies’ trip to Florida.

Redshirt freshman Marcel Reed will make his third consecutive start. Reed has accumulated 422 passing yards and four passing touchdowns while completing 57% of his passes. He didn’t intercept. Using his legs, Reed has racked up 217 yards and a touchdown.

Two Aggie centers, Mark Nabou Jr. and TJ Shanahan, are out for Saturday’s game. The Aggies will rely on transfer center Kolinu’u Faaiu to hold down the middle of the line.

Both freshman Ashton Funk and junior Kam Dewberry took second-team reps during warmups at AT&T Stadium. Funk is listed on A&M’s depth chart as a backup center. Junior Kam Dewberry also took reps at center during fall camp.

Metroplex ties

Two of Arkansas’ offensive weapons rank among the top 10 in the country in yards per game: wide receiver Andrew Armstrong and running back Ja’Quinden Jackson.

Fittingly for this game, both come from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Armstrong, who averages 116 receiving yards per game, is a Dallas Bishop Dunne product who transferred to Arkansas from Texas A&M-Commerce. Jackson averages 118 yards per game on the ground and graduated from Duncanville. He came to Arkansas via Utah, where he was teammates with Faaiu at A&M.

Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green hails from Lewisville in the northern part of the Metroplex and has averaged 239.3 yards per pass.

A&M has nine Dallas-Fort Worth natives on its schedule for Saturday, led by defensive tackle Shemar Turner of DeSoto.
