The Texas Longhorns came to the Big House on Saturday and gave a lesson.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers delivered an outstanding performance, throwing for 246 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 3 Texas to a 31-12 victory over No. 10 Michigan in the home stadium of the reigning national champions.

Michigan’s weaknesses were exposed early on. Head coach Sherrone Moore, in his first season since Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL, seemingly had no answers on either side of the ball.

The Longhorns were nearly perfect on third down in the first half, totaling 279 yards on offense to Michigan’s 88. Ewers was equally accurate, completing 18 of 26 passes for 203 yards and scoring two touchdowns, giving Texas a 24-3 lead at halftime.

Michigan quarterback Davis Warren managed just 49 yards before catching up in the second half, throwing for 204 yards and a touchdown. But the touchdown came too late and Michigan’s defense couldn’t withstand offensive coordinator Kyle Flood’s plan.

Texas improved to 2-0 thanks to two strong performances from Ewers. Last week, he passed for 260 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-0 win over Colorado State.

Texas, in his first season as SEC School, it looks like it has a chance to compete for the conference and state championships.
