Raleigh Sports & Entertainment District gives first glimpse of mixed-use development

RALEIGH, NC – Pacific Elm Properties and Gale Force Sports and Entertainment today announced plans for the Raleigh Sports & Entertainment District, the new $1 billion mixed-use project surrounding the arena that serves as the home of the Carolina Hurricanes and NC State basketball. The redevelopment of the 80-acre site, located just off I-40 and adjacent to Carter-Finley Stadium, will offer new year-round shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities and include a unique outdoor space for sporting events and programs. Tenants and outdoor spaces will be designed to appeal to both Hurricanes and NC State fans, offering new ways to gather before sporting events while honoring the classic tailgating experience that people have come to love.

“Together with the Centennial Authority, we aim to provide fans with new amenities and create experiences that will bring more people to the arena and stadium and encourage them to come early, eat and even stay overnight on site. This development is the next step in building the country’s premier sports and entertainment district and will make the area a regional economic engine for decades to come,” said Brian Fork, CEO of Hurricanes Holdings, LLC.

Phase one of the development will include more than 200,000 square feet of entertainment and lifestyle retail, 150,000 square feet of office space, a 150-room hotel and more than 500 apartments. Additional phases will expand this diversity of uses over the expected 15-year development period. Entertainment uses will be concentrated near the existing arena and stadium, while residential and office uses will be concentrated closer to Edwards Mill Road along key access points to facilitate transportation connections.
