The Los Angeles Rams receiver squad was already weakened by the loss of Puka Nacua with a strained posterior cruciate ligament, but suffered another setback in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Rams star receiver Cooper Kupp suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter and was questionable about his return, according to ESPN’s Sarah Barshop.

Kupp had four catches for 37 yards before leaving Sunday’s game. Barshop noted that the 31-year-old “walked off the field into the locker room at halftime with a noticeable limp.”

Kupp got off to a great start in the 2024 season, making 14 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown in the Rams’ season opener against the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, his performance wasn’t enough to earn a win, as Los Angeles lost 26-20 in overtime.

After being named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 and leading the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Kupp has struggled with his health since then. A severe ankle sprain that required surgery limited him to nine games in 2022, and he began the 2023 season on the injured list due to a hamstring issue before appearing in 12 games.

Adding to Kupp’s injury is the absence of Nacua, who left the game against the Lions after four catches for 35 yards. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the 23-year-old is expected to be out “between five and seven weeks.” If Kupp is out, it could be an uphill battle for the Rams in the highly competitive NFC.

Experienced wide receivers Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson are among those who will have to fill the gap while Kupp is out.
