Rams place Puka Nacua on injured list due to ACL sprain

A report on Monday described receiver Puka Nacua as being out week to week with his knee injury. But Nacua will be out for at least a month.

Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters in his press conference on Monday that Nacua has a strained posterior cruciate ligament and will be placed on the injured list.

Nacua re-aggravated the injury he sustained during training camp in the first half of Sunday’s season opener against Detroit. McVay, via Greg Beacham of the Associated Press, said the repetition was “is somewhat more significant“ than the original injury.

Nacua, 23, caught four passes for 35 yards before leaving the competition.

Last season, Nacua set rookie records when he caught 105 passes for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns.

The Rams also have several injury concerns on their offensive line. Through multiple reporters, McVay reported that guard Steve Avila suffered an MCL sprain and is a candidate for the injured list. Backup left tackle Joe Noteboom – who started Sunday for the suspended Alaric Jackson – will miss several weeks with an ankle sprain. Right guard Kevin Dotson also suffered an ankle sprain and will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

McVay said the club will look for outside candidates for offensive linemen. Right tackle Rob Havenstein was unavailable for action Sunday because of an ankle injury.

Cornerback Cobie Durant also suffers from the disease due to a toe injury.

In Week 2, the Rams are back on the road to face the Cardinals.
