Report: Anna Delvey leaves prison and appears on “Dancing With The Stars”

Since her move from prison to house arrest in 2022, the convicted Manhattan fraudster Anna Delvey has announced a slew of new projects: an art exhibition, a docuseries deal and a triumphant return to social media, among other new endeavors. A new report suggests she’s expanding beyond the Manhattan/art/Instagram personal brand conveyed by the Netflix drama about her exploits and will head to Los Angeles to compete in a reality competition show Dancing with the stars.

Delvey, as you probably know, was sentenced to “at least four” years in prison in 2019 after a jury found her guilty of attempted grand larceny, three counts of grand larceny and four counts of official misconduct. This came after she defrauded people and businesses out of hundreds of thousands of dollars while claiming to be an heiress who wanted to start a sophisticated Manhattan social club for the arts. The former Vanity Fair Employees Rachel Williams is one of the many people who say they were duped by Delvey, and describes an elaborate system of cross-transfers and social engineering that eventually collapsed. (Williams also appeared in the Netflix adaptation of the case, The invention of Annaand sued the streamer for her characterization.)

Anna Delvey was released from prison in 2021 but was placed in an immigration detention center for the next 18 months for allegedly overstaying her visa. She was released on bail in 2022 and is under house arrest while her deportation case is in court. According to CNN, she is now seeking asylum in the United States because “there is evidence to show that she would be deported from Germany to Russia and persecuted,” the lawyer said. John Sandweg says.

Those stay-at-home rules have reportedly been relaxed in recent months, and Delvey is taking trips out into the city. According to Page Six, she is now allowed to travel up to 70 miles from home — and recently “received special permission to travel to LA” to appear as a contestant on DWTSIn fact, “we’ve heard she’s already on her way to LA to prepare for the competition,” the release says.

Given the legal fees for her deportation fight, the $199,000 in restitution and the $24,000 fine she had to pay at her conviction, as well as the day-to-day costs of living in New York, Delvey is likely eager to find new sources of income—after all, it is unclear whether she will be allowed to profit from it. The invention of AnnaSuccess. Variety reports that another notorious figure, the former Donald Trump speaker Sean Spicer earned at least $125,000 during his 2019 appearance there, with contestants who make it past the third week capped at $295,000. A drop in the bucket compared to the $22 million Delvey reportedly tried to snag around the same time, but it’s certainly a start.
