No official statement has yet been posted on his Instagram account and his representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

However, podcaster Adam Grandmaison, known as Adam22, shared a photo of the two together on his Instagram story in his memory.

Fellow rapper Boosie BadAzz also apparently confirmed his death by sharing a message on X. “JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA 😓 #tipQUAN Never forget your smile and the way you talked and of course your music 💯,” he wrote.

He also claimed that he had “received the news” that Quan had died of an overdose.

However, Quan’s official cause of death has not yet been announced. He was 34 years old.

The Atlanta-born musician, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, had struggled with substance abuse in the past and was charged with drug possession with intent to resell in 2017.

However, as TMZ reported at the time, the case was dropped in 2019 due to lack of evidence.

Quan’s career began in 2013 with the release of “Some Type of Way”, which reached number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“It happened so quickly, but I’m very grateful,” he told Billboard in September 2013.

“It makes me more focused and shows me that people are really paying attention.”

His biggest hit was 2015’s “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” which peaked at number 26 on the Billboard charts.
