Robert Pattinson dies again and again in the trailer for “Mickey 17”

The sci-fi comedy was written and directed by parasite Filmmaker Bong Joon Ho

Robert Pattinson literally sacrifices himself for science in the trailer for Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17In the clip, Pattinson plays a man named Mickey who volunteers to be “expendable” and faces repeated death in a futuristic world.

The comedic trailer, which features Brit Pattinson imitating an unusual American accent, shows Mickey forced to die violently in the name of research, his body replicated every time he bites the dust. Eventually, however, two Mickeys exist at once, causing both chaos and excitement.

The film, which also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo, is Joon Ho’s highly anticipated follow-up to his Oscar-winning drama parasiteIt is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton and will be released in theaters on January 31, 2025.

The official synopsis reads: “From the Oscar-winning writer and director of parasiteBong Joon Ho, comes his next groundbreaking cinema experience, Mickey 17. Unlikely hero Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) finds himself in the extraordinary position of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… dying for a living.”

Joon Ho won three Oscars for parasitewhich was released in 2019, including Best Director. Previously, he directed OK, SnowpiercerAnd The hostSeveral of his long-time collaborators, including cinematographer Darius Khondji and editor Yang Jinmo, also worked on Mickey 17.

Pattinson most recently played the role of Bruce Wayne in The Batman and lent his voice to the English dubbing of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film The Boy and the Heron.
