Colorado Rockies right-hander Dakota Hudson, who was promoted from Triple-A for Saturday’s game, was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday because of inflammation in his right elbow.

Hudson, 29, allowed five runs on three hits and four walks in 2 2/3 innings in an 11-8 home loss to the Atlanta Braves. The Rockies acquired his contract from Triple-A Albuquerque the previous Saturday so right-handed starter Cal Quantrill could get more rest.

Colorado had Hudson scheduled for assignment on July 7, and he accepted the deal to Albuquerque. Hudson (2-12, 6.17 ERA in 89 innings in 18 starts) is tied with Washington’s Patrick Corbin for the major league lead in losses before Sunday’s games.

Hudson has a career record of 40-32 with one save and a 4.21 ERA in 132 games (97 starts) with the St. Louis Cardinals (2018-23) and the Rockies. The Cardinals selected him in the first round (34th overall) in the 2016 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State.

Colorado also acquired the contract of left-hander Josh Rogers from Albuquerque on Sunday. Rogers, 30, is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA, two walks and two strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings in five relief appearances for the Rockies this season.
