Rookie RB MarShawn Lloyd inactive in Week 1 against the Eagles

The Green Bay Packers have announced that six players will not play in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The list includes rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd, who was questionable due to a hamstring injury, and defensive end Arron Mosby, who did not travel with the team to Brazil for personal reasons.

The Packers can rely on tight end Tucker Kraft (back) and running back Emanuel Wilson (hip), who were questionable because of injuries. With Lloyd out, Wilson will serve as the primary backup behind Josh Jacobs.

Here are the six players who will not be active for the Packers on Friday night:

WR Malik Heath
RB MarShawn Lloyd
DL Arron Mosby
DL Brenton Cox Jr.
T Kadeem Telfort
T Travis Glover

Lloyd was injured early in training camp and then suffered a hamstring injury on his only run in the preseason opener on Aug. 10. He missed the final two preseason games and over three weeks of practice, so the rookie likely isn’t ready for a big role behind Jacobs. The Packers promoted Ellis Merriweather from the practice squad to provide additional depth. Jacobs is expected to play the majority of snaps against the Eagles.

Heath is the No. 6 wide receiver. Mosby and Cox Jr. are stuck behind Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness and Kingsley Enagbare at defensive end. Telfort and Glover are both developing offensive linemen who occupy the No. 9 and No. 10 spots in the position group. The Packers have Andre Dillard and rookies Jordan Morgan – assuming Sean Rhyan starts at right guard – and Jacob Monk as top backups on the offensive line.
