CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rossview High girls soccer team hosted the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights for their first home game on Tuesday, August 13. When the final siren sounded, the Hawks opened their home match with a 2-0 victory thanks to two goals from freshman Casey Steel and a clean sheet from goalkeeper Mya Martin.

The Hawks controlled the game from the start, spending most of the game in Hume-Fogg territory, but were unable to score until 16 seconds before the end of the period, when Steel scored the first goal of the period, off an assist from Cassidy Beltowski, to give Rossview the lead.

Steel scored again in the closing stages of the game, this time with an assist from Alicia Shin. That made it two goals on the night, both in the final minute of each period. The “clutch gene” was in full effect for the Hawks, and it’s a huge win to kick off their 2024-25 season.

“They didn’t stop, they played until the final whistle, that’s what Steel and the whole team showed,” said Rossview head coach Connie Castleman. “We snuck both goals in late and that was huge because we easily couldn’t have scored them. That made the difference in the end.”

“This is a great start, this is how we want the first game to go,” Castelman told Clarksville Now. “We have a tough schedule and we’re going to be tested. I hope it stays this way all season. I’m proud of my team and I like what I’m seeing so far.”
