Salt Lake City, Utah – A sharp drop in temperatures is expected Monday as a cold front moves into the Salt Lake City area. Highs will drop to 60 degrees F, compared to 73 degrees F on Sunday. Along with the drop in temperatures, the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, with gusts up to 45 mph. These conditions could cause downed tree limbs and localized power outages.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest winds will occur in the late morning and afternoon hours. Residents are asked to secure lawn furniture, trash cans and other loose items. Strong winds can make driving dangerous, especially for high-profile vehicles on mountain roads, including I-80 and I-15. If possible, avoid driving during the strongest wind times and use caution when traveling.

Utilities are preparing for possible power outages, and residents should keep flashlights and spare batteries on hand in case of emergency. Temperatures are expected to remain cooler throughout the week, with rain showers expected starting Tuesday. Stay up to date with weather reports and take the necessary precautions to stay safe.
