SanTan Brewing Co. in Chandler is mourning the death of its founder

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) – An Arizona-based brewery is mourning the loss of its founder, who was a pioneer in the brewing industry.

SanTan Brewing Company announced the death of its founder Anthony Canecchia. According to Mouth by Southwest, he was 51 years old.

According to his bio on the company’s website, Canecchia has been a professional brewer since 1996.

“We ask for your patience and understanding as we take the necessary precautions and navigate the journey of grief. Out of respect for his family, friends and colleagues, we politely ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the company said in a post.

SanTan beers are available in retail locations throughout Arizona. The brewery has three locations in Chandler with a restaurant in Phoenix Sky Harbor Terminal 3.

“Anthony has worked tirelessly to grow craft beer in our state and throughout his career has created a business that employs numerous Arizonans,” the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild wrote on social media. “We wish SanTan and the Canecchia family all the best during this time of grief.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
