Scott Stapp’s transformative year continues as he releases a new video for “Black Butterfly” as the single climbs to #19 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart. “Black Butterfly” is the second hit single from Stapp’s new chart-topping album Higher Power (Napalm Records). It follows the title track “Higher Power,” which peaked at #8 on Active Rock in March.

The Grammy-winning songwriter, solo artist and Creed frontman has surpassed his own career highs this year, recapturing the zeitgeist with multiple projects and the return of Creed, “something this industry may have never seen before,” according to Pollstar.

Traversing liberation, acceptance and growth, the new video shows a lonely figure tormented by opposing forces until the light within breaks through. The cocoon is the catalyst for the narrator’s transformation from fragile to wild, leading a lion attack.

As Stapp says, “Growth is challenging, change can be uncomfortable, and personal loss can be devastating. We’ve all been there. Fight through it. I’ve learned that the ‘next level’ of self-awareness is knowing what you’re capable of and not being defined by your worst experiences.”

Stapp commissioned video and motion graphics specialist Scott Kennedy of 12 Inch Media, a company based in Glasgow, Scotland, to create the video.

Stapp adds, “When ‘Black Butterfly’ came on the radio, I wanted to share a new image. Scott (Kennedy) didn’t sacrifice artistry for speed. In the final version, it felt like the start of a whole new chapter.”

“Black Butterfly” overcomes defeat and emerges reborn. It’s a groovy smash with an unwavering chorus, energetic riffs from Kevin Thrasher (@kthrash) and Stapp’s unforgettable, beautiful vocals.

Higher Power is available in the following formats:
