After the heartbreaking loss of his teenage son in 2006, Tomson dedicated himself to guiding others toward positive and transformative life choices. His Code Method is a straightforward yet effective approach that encourages people to create personal “I will” statements that help them define their purpose and move their lives in a better direction. This method has touched lives around the world, impacting students, professionals, and entire communities. Tomson’s influence has reached everywhere from top universities and Fortune 500 companies to the inmates of the Santa Barbara County Jail, where he spread his message of resilience and hope.

“Shaun Tomson’s journey and commitment to empowering others to live more meaningful lives is an inspiration to us all. He has taken his message from the beach to the boardroom, to the classroom and yes – even to prison, changing lives at every turn,” said MP Davies.

“It was an honor to honor one of the pioneers of surfing on our floor. Shaun’s indelible influence helped transform surfing from a summer pastime to a serious, professional sport. He is a living legend and a true ambassador for California’s state sport,” said Rep. Lowenthal.

“Shaun’s global platform is a testament to his dedicated work positively impacting the lives of young people and communities. He is also a tireless advocate for marine conservation and has raised awareness about protecting our coastlines and marine ecosystems. Shaun’s contributions to the Central Coast and the world are significant and it was an honor to welcome him to the State Assembly to share his accomplishments with legislators and the public,” said Assemblyman Hart.

In addition to his empowerment work, Tomson is a best-selling author and award-winning filmmaker. His efforts extend beyond the surfing community to have lasting impacts on leadership, education and personal growth.
