Sierra Ferrell shares legacy version of “Lighthouse,” West Virginia declares Sierra Ferrell Day

Today, Sierra Ferrell shares an alternate version of her song “Lighthouse,” a plea to a potential lover that has been described as both a “hooky catchy tune” and a “potential hit roots single,” wrote the Wall Street Journal. While the original recording is layered with strings and harmonies, this new interpretation strips the arrangement down to Sierra Ferrell’s lead vocals and guitar, recalling the series of strong and impressive solo performances that initially transformed her from train-hopping vagabond to viral sensation.

“Lighthouse” is one of Sierra Ferrell’s many highlights Trail of flowers LP, making her the biggest winner of the 2024 Americana Honors & Awards last week. Ferrell entered the night as the most nominated female musician, winning the top awards of Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, cementing her ascension as the “Roots Music Queen of the Moment” (Variety).

In recent weeks, Sierra Ferrell has also released alternative versions of Trail of flowers Hits like “American Dreaming” and “Dollar Bill Bar,” she also starred in her debut on NPR’s Tiny Desk, collaborated with Post Malone, shared Bills with Mitski and Zach Bryan, and appeared on television screens and festival stages across the country.

Tomorrow she makes a triumphant return to her hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, where the state will officially declare September 28th Sierra Ferrell Day. The declaration, signed by Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin and presented by West Virginia Delegate Mike Pushkin (D – Kanawha, 054), takes place during her concert at the Clay Center and is the culmination of a sold-out tour of more than 45 dates.
