A “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse will take place on October 2nd and will last over six hours.

There will be a “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse on Wednesday (October 2) that will last over six hours. Today’s solar eclipse will begin at 7:12 pm (IST) on Wednesday and end at 3:17 am IST the next day. However, the peak of this Ring of Fire eclipse will occur on October 3 at around 12:15 pm IST.

The solar eclipse will be visible over the waters of the Pacific. It will be clearly visible from Argentina and Chile. The solar eclipse will not be viewable in India as the peak will be seen at night.

A partial view of the eclipse, with the sun appearing as a crescent, will be visible from several locations including Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Hawaii.

During this “Ring of Fire” eclipse, the Moon will create a brilliant outline of sunlight around its dark center because it is too far from Earth to completely shadow the Sun. This outline is called the “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse.

Why is today’s eclipse called the “Ring of Fire” eclipse?

The “Ring of Fire” solar eclipse is a celestial phenomenon in which the moon comes into a distance between the earth and the sun from which it cannot completely obscure the sun, but only a large part of it.

When the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and attempts to obscure the Sun, it is at a distance where it does not completely obscure the Sun and shows a glowing ring of sunlight around the Sun’s dark center. The next solar eclipse will not occur until 2026.

In particular, the Ring of Fire solar eclipse is different from the total solar eclipse, in which the moon completely blocks the sun.

As for the upcoming solar eclipse, the next partial solar eclipse will occur on March 29, 2025. Like today’s solar eclipse, the partial solar eclipse will not be visible in India, but will be visible in parts of the northeastern United States, eastern Canada, Greenland, Europe, northwest Africa and northern Russia.
