Sources: Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman on game time against Missouri

Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman’s injured shoulder is improving and he is healthy enough where he is expected to be available for Saturday’s game against No. 9 Missouri, sources told ESPN.

After not dressing up last week against Arkansas and not playing since Sept. 7, Weigman has taken significant reps and improved enough that he will be back in the uniform for the Aggies, according to sources.

The decision as to whether Weigman or Marcel Reed starts is a mid-game decision, according to sources. Sources said Reed is the expected starter for the fourth straight game, but sources cautioned that there is a chance Weigman could resume his starting role if he feels 100 percent.

Weigman’s participation in practice increased this week after he did not play last week against Arkansas because he was not cleared to play. With his activity increasing in practice and his availability Saturday, the Texas A’s have a compelling decision at the quarterback position&M coaching staff in the near future.

Weigman clearly earned the A’s job out of camp&M’s best quarterback, which sources say will factor into the team’s decision. Reed played at a high level in the Florida game and was solid but unspectacular in the last two games.

Texas A&M gained just 297 total yards against Arkansas as Reed went 11 of 22 and gained just 13 yards on 10 carries. (He took three sacks, contributing to that low total.) Reed ran for 91 yards against Bowling Green but completed just 16 of 29 passes.

This came during an efficient performance against Florida, as Reed rushed for 83 yards and completed 11 of 17 passes. A&M finished the game with 488 yards of offense.

The Texas A&The M-Pass game has been hampered by a pedestrian receiver corps, as Cyrus Allen is the team’s leading receiver with 11 catches for 203 yards. Overall, Texas is A&M’s passing offense is No. 117 nationally and last in the SEC at 162 yards per game.

Weigman has been out since the second week of the season because he injured his cruciate ligament in his throwing shoulder in the season-opening loss to Notre Dame. He then aggravated that injury in Week 2 against McNeese and missed the following three games.
