Southwest Oregon Regional Airport begins improvements to terminal shuttle parking

Southwest Oregon Regional Airport begins improvements to terminal shuttle parking

There is currently work taking place in the parking area of the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport, which could impact traffic and the number of passengers reaching the terminal.

The Coos County Airport District (CCAD) is working to improve the safety of vehicles entering the loading areas near the terminal, including creating a dedicated loading area for shuttle buses between parking lots #1 and #2.

Knife River Materials was awarded the contract to remove curbs, grass and asphalt.

The work includes resurfacing the parking lot and installing curbs in the shuttle bus parking area.

The work will take place during the day and will last from Wednesday, August 14 to Monday, August 19, 2024. Work is also planned for the week of August 26, 2024.

Pedestrians and vehicles are asked to exercise caution near the construction site.

The latest project is part of several phases to improve access, safety and efficiency for passengers and transportation companies at the airport. Last year, a curbside roundabout at the terminal entrance was removed. Parking lot lighting was upgraded to LEDs. The light bollards near the terminal entrance were also upgraded to cost-saving LED lights. Most recently, rental car parking was moved from the middle lot (#2) to the lower lot #1.

CCAD plans to improve access, including dedicated walkways leading from the three parking lots to the terminal. The terminal is located at 1100 Airport Lane in North Bend. If you have any questions, contact the Airport Management Office at (541) 756-8531 or email [email protected].
