The festival ended with a performance by Italian dancers, each representing a different region of Italy.

One chef said the weekend was a great success thanks to clear weather and great community participation.

“I can tell you that we will probably use 3,000 cannoli. We made 1,300 cream puffs and we are almost finished, about 6,000 to 7,000 cookies. It was a wonderful experience,” said Luigi Pontillo, director of the Italian festival.

Pontillo added that the Italian community in Erie has dwindled in recent years and it is important to bring the community together to celebrate their heritage.
