Starlink launches kit rental in Kenya for per month

Satellite internet company Starlink is offering kit rentals in Kenya for just $15 a month.

The new rental option, which the company unveiled Wednesday, is for those who can’t afford to buy the Starlink hardware. The kit, which retails for $350, can now be rented for $15.15 per month, plus a one-time activation fee of $21. Customers can choose between a 50GB data plan for $10 or an unlimited package for $50.50, both of which offer speeds of up to 200Mbps. For those who would rather buy the hardware one-time, the standard Starlink kit now costs $350.

Since its launch in Kenya in July, the company has made great strides in making its service more accessible and has also drastically reduced the price of the Starlink kit from its original retail price of $687.26, which was out of reach for many potential customers.

With this low-cost rental option, Starlink aims to bring high-speed internet to more individuals, businesses and communities across Kenya, including those in remote areas. The satellite-based internet service promises to be a game-changer, enabling greater access to information, education and economic opportunities across the country.
