Starting in November, Dubuque Regional Airport will offer daily flights to Chicago

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Dubuque Regional Airport will resume daily commercial service.

Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh announced Tuesday that Denver Air Connections will offer daily direct flights to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport beginning November 4.

“The flight will depart O’Hare each day,” city officials wrote in a press release. “The first leg will depart O’Hare around noon, and the Dubuque-to-O’Hare flight will depart in the afternoon. Denver Air Connection will use fast, comfortable ERJ145 aircraft departing and arriving at Concourse L at O’Hare.”

Mayor Cavanagh said work to expand air traffic to the airport is not yet complete.

“The DBQ Air group continues to meet weekly to pursue this goal and explore related partnerships and opportunities,” he said.

The resumption of commercial flight operations from Dubuque Regional Airport comes after Avelo left the airport earlier this year.

The airport has been without commercial operations since Avelo Airlines suspended flights to Orlando and Las Vegas in January.

Flight operations were scheduled to resume in November, but in July the airline announced that it would not resume.

Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh said restoring utilities is critical to the community’s growth.
