Sunday Night Football Open Thread: Houston Texans vs. Chicago Bears

It’s only Week 2, and yet the number of NFL teams that have yet to lose a game in the 2024 season is dwindling quickly. For the Seattle Seahawks, the first season under Mike Macdonald has been a success so far. The team defeated the Denver Broncos in the opening game before defeating the New England Patriots on the road.

On Sunday Night Football, the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans battle for the right to remain undefeated, with both teams entering the game with a 1-0 record on the year.

In addition, both teams are looking for another chance for their young quarterbacks to show what they can do in the game. For the Bears, it’s the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams, who will lead Shane Waldron’s offense, while for the Texans, it’s the second pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, led by CJ Stroud.

Houston enters the contest as a 5.5-point favorite over Chicago at FanDuel Sportsbook, which seems reasonable given the Bears’ very limited offensive output in Week 1. The Texans, on the other hand, enter the game seemingly without any issues after finishing the 2023 season strong, and it seems likely that the Texans will cover the spread. However, given Shane Waldron’s group’s struggles to score points in Week 1, staying under the over/under of 44.5 seems to be the better bet.

And now it’s on to the game, which can be watched at 8:20 ET/5:20 PT on NBC or streamed on NFL+ or Peacock.
