Taunton farm shop hosts event for mental health charity

A farm shop in Taunton is hosting an awareness and fundraising event in aid of a mental health charity.

At the Rumwell Farm Shop event on August 23, the shop team will be wearing brightly colored clothing from 10am to 4pm.

Representatives from Mind in Somerset will also have a stand in the farm shop on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington to inform customers about their work and the services they offer.

They will also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a Rumwell gift basket of Made at Rumwell products.

Sophie Mitchell, Partner at Rumwell Farm Shop, said: “We are delighted to welcome our 2024 Charity of the Year, Mind in Somerset, back here on Friday 23 August.

“The charity team will be distributing information about its activities and providing collection boxes so that people can also donate their spare change.

“There will also be raffle tickets on sale for a chance to win a wonderful Rumwell hamper containing some of our famous ‘Made at Rumwell’ products. We will also have some special Mind in Somerset glazed biscuits for sale on the day to raise funds for the charity. There will also be a children’s gift pack.

“The team will wear something bright or eye-catching instead of their usual uniform. Each member involved will donate a minimum of £2 to be allowed to wear their non-uniform item of clothing, which could be colourful trousers, a t-shirt, a jumper or a hat.

“Mind in Somerset does amazing work helping to provide services to people across Somerset. As mental health is a key issue affecting our farming community, it is a very understanding charity for us to support.”

Mind in Somerset provides support and resources for people with mental health problems across the country.

It offers a variety of services, including counseling, advocacy and community engagement.

Alison Baker, Corporate Partnerships Coordinator at Mind in Somerset, said: “We are delighted to be working with Rumwell Farm Shop as their Charity of the Year 2024.

“This is a great opportunity to not only raise funds for our charity, but also to raise awareness of our work in supporting people with mental health issues across the country.”
