Team news: Setford makes his debut and Saliba returns | Team news | News

Tommy Setford makes his first team debut for us this evening in the fourth round match of the Carabao Cup against Championship side Preston North End.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper joined from Ajax in the summer but was injured in the third round win over Bolton Wanderers last month. He is the 911th player to represent Arsenal’s men’s first team.

Tommy Setford: Meet today’s debutant

William Saliba returns from a one-match suspension and will start alongside Jakub Kiwior in central defense, while Jurrien Timber – who was substituted in the second half of our 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday – is back in the starting line-up at right-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko completes the back four on the left side of defense.

Jorginho leads the team in midfield, Mikel Merino and Ethan Nwaneri are also in the starting line-up.

Gabriel Jesus leads the front with Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Martinelli on the wings. Neto (cup tie), Ben White and Gabriel are missing from Sunday’s matchday squad.

The hosts, currently 16th in the Championship, make six changes compared to the side that drew with Plymouth at the weekend. Former Gunner youth player Sam Greenwood is among the starting players.
