We get it. Sometimes you just don’t feel like cooking. Walmart’s Great Value brand usually has some decent frozen meals to eat in those moments. Poblano enchiladas, anyone?

But along with the good products, there are also some not-so-good ones that you may want to avoid. We combed through a few Reddit threads to find out which Great Value frozen products customers typically avoid and why.

1. Inexpensive frozen pasta dishes

One Great Value food category that many Reddit users are avoiding is Great Value brand pasta dishes. One not only said they were “terrible” (particularly the pesto cheese tortellini and beef stroganoff), but also added, “They’re so bland that no amount of seasoning can save them.”

If you’re looking for quality frozen pasta dishes to get dinner on the table quickly, we think Trader Joe’s is a better choice. Here you’ll find a bag of frozen spaghetti carbonara for under $5 that you can heat up on the stove or in the microwave for a quick but decadent meal.

2. Cheap ice cream

Many are turning down Walmart’s ice cream offerings. In another Reddit thread, someone wrote, “The ice cream is a no-go for me… lacks flavor and texture.” Oh, and then there’s the problem that the ice cream sandwiches don’t melt.

However, Costco is one retailer that doesn’t disappoint in the private label ice cream department. Fans describe Kirkland Signature Premium Vanilla Ice Cream as creamy and thick with a “borderline cold rock texture.” One customer said it was “one of the strongest vanilla flavors I’ve ever had in an ice cream.”

3. Inexpensive frozen bagel bites and pizza rolls

Many also agreed that Walmart Great Value brand bagel bites and pizza rolls aren’t worth the money. One Redditor said, “The Great Value version of bagel bites are a disappointment. The sauce is okay but the cheese feels cheap.” Someone else added, “The GM pizza rolls taste like the box they’re sold in,” and yet another responded that he’s “banned” those rolls from his house.

When you’re craving those nostalgic snacks from back in the day, sometimes you have to go straight to the original source or try making them yourself, which we think is always a great option. Not only are these mini bagel bites super easy to make, but there are other fun variations, like everything bagel bites, that can be made in the air fryer.

4. Cheap frozen broccoli

While one person said they usually buy frozen vegetables at Walmart, another person said they tend to avoid frozen broccoli because it can be “tough, fibrous, and sometimes completely inedible.” She added, “It doesn’t matter if it’s chopped, in florets, or whatever. Every bag contains some amount of inedible product.”

So where should you buy your frozen broccoli? The Kirkland Signature Organic Broccoli Florets are a favorite among chefs across the country because they’re pre-washed and pre-chopped. If chefs are heading to Costco for this frozen staple, we think it’s probably a safe bet.

5. Inexpensive frozen spring rolls

If you’re looking to save money on frozen spring rolls, sticking with the brand is probably worth it, according to one commenter: “I find the Great Value spring rolls taste…horrible, so I just get the Taipei ones, lol.”

We recommend skipping the frozen spring rolls altogether and opting for Aldi’s fun spring rolls in a bowl, a favorite among fans looking for a cheap and quick dinner. Fried ground turkey is mixed with rice and the ready-made Little Salad Bar Chopped Asian Salad Kit to get just the right flavors without the hassle of deep-fried rolls.
