The Chiefs are getting a major injury update on Patrick Mahomes right after the Raiders’ Week 8 win

The Chiefs remained undefeated with a decisive 27-20 win over the Raiders in Week 8 on Sunday, despite the team receiving major injury news immediately after the game.

CB Nazeeh Johnson took on a prominent role after Jaylen Watson’s injury despite suffering a concussion, while TE Jody Fortson injured his right knee and Patrick Mahomes rolled up his ankle.

Kansas City’s superstar and three-time Super Bowl MVP’s illness is the biggest concern, but Mahomes appears to be doing well.

Mahomes seemed fine and finished the game completing 27 of 38 attempts for 262 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He avenged the Christmas loss to the Raiders in the 2023-24 season and ensured victory was never in doubt.

Travis Kelce turned back the clock with 10 catches for 90 yards and a score, showing rookie sensation Brock Bowers calling the shots. As long as Mahomes is doing well, there is little reason to worry about the Chiefs’ chances of completing the three-peat.

Many fans immediately became concerned when Mahomes went down and felt the ankle injury. We saw him hampered in the playoffs against the Jaguars, Bengals and Eagles. He still won the Super Bowl, but with two working legs it’s much easier to emerge victorious. Of course, Kansas City has its best chance of winning with a healthy Mahomes, so this injury update was a relief.

Since he was able to finish the contest, there is little doubt that Mahomes will be ready to face the Buccaneers in Week 9.
