Solo developer Made From Strings and publisher Dionous Games have today released a new developer diary for their “Agatha Christie in space” murder mystery Murder On Space Station 52, coming to Switch. In the video, developer Christopher Mathes dives deep into the game’s art, showing off his hand-drawn ink drawings and the iterative process of taking the art from black and white on paper to the full-color art deco sci-fi environments you see in the game. Find out about the game’s artistic inspirations, how Christopher created the unique characters that will be the suspects you’ll investigate in the game, and more.

In Murder On Space Station 52, you play as Edward Locke. The new mechanic finds himself on a strange space station filled with even stranger people, including one with a penchant for leaving corpses lying around with keys in their wounds. Edward soon fills out a murder board of suspects as he tries to make connections and figure out which of them is the keychain killer.

The crime investigation draws on classic adventure game mechanics with its point-and-click puzzles, but also offers a modern twist thanks to the in-game currency you earn as you explore, allowing you to customize your apartment and fill an aquarium with a range of strange and odd creatures. All of this can be seen in the developer commentary video, and you can delve even deeper into the rich world of Space Station 52 in the game’s announcement trailer, get a taste of the stirring, blues-inspired soundtrack, and fully voiced, charismatic characters.
