The Glen Cove Public Library’s charity book sale is back

The Friends of the Glen Cove Public Library have announced their second annual book sale, which will be held Thursday, September 12th through Saturday, September 14th.

The sale includes a wide range of genres for children, teens and adults, with all proceeds going to support library programming.

“It’s a wonderful event,” said Friends of the Library President Gail Carlin.

The book sale includes nonfiction and fiction for all ages, excluding textbooks. Attendees are asked to donate used books to the Friends of the Library for sale at the event.

The sale is organized by genre and author and takes place in the library’s common room.

Last year, the Friends of the Library raised nearly $1,600 for the library. Books are sold at the event for about $1.

“All of the money raised goes directly to the library,” Carlin said. “(The Friends of the Library) raise funds to support some of the programs and activities the library offers to the community.”

Programs sponsored by the Friends of the Library include film screenings, children’s programs, arts and crafts, and student scholarships.

A kick-off event with light refreshments will be held on Thursday, September 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Friday, September 13th and Saturday, September 14th, the book sale will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Friday, a Cousin’s Maine Lobster truck will be parked in front of the library.
