The Office Australia releases first trailer

The office is back! Well, a version of it.

Amazon Prime Video has released the first trailer for the Australian adaptation of the timeless classic comedy series by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant The officeand we finally get a proper look at the Australian variants of Brent, Tim, Dawn, Gareth and more.

With NBC’s successor to the US adaptation of The office Still in development, fans of the franchise around the world can enjoy an Australian attempt at a mockumentary-style comedy in the meantime.

However, there is a (big) catch: The office Australia will be available on Prime Video starting October 18 in 240 countries and territories worldwide, except the US, of course. But that’s nothing a VPN can’t fix if you’re really into it.

In the clip released on Wednesday, we see Hannah Howard (Felicity Ward), the managing director of Sydney-based packaging company Flinley Craddick, trying in vain to win over her employees with her natural charisma, her “girlboss” charisma and her visionary leadership style.

Also trapped with Hannah in Flinley Craddick are receptionist, receptionist and productivity manager Lizze (Edith Poor in the role of Dwight/Gareth), sales representative Nick (Steen Raskopoulos in the role of Tim/Jim) and Greta (Shari Sebbens in the role of Pam/Dawn).

The cast also includes Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda, Claude Jabbour and Jason Perini. Guest stars in the eight-episode season include Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniiak, Carlo Ritchie, Rick Donald and Chris Bunton.

The office was written for Australia by the authors Julie De Fina (aftertaste) and Jackie van Beek (The Breaker Upperers, Naked Tuesday), with the couple also serving as executive producers. Kylie Washington (Return to Paradise) is executive producer along with lead producer Sophia Zachariou (Ladies in Black, The moth effect) and producer Linda Micsko (The disappointment, Laid).

The office is co-produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios and is based on the BBC Studios original format.

Outside the known USA The officeSince the last episode of the original British version in December 2003, there have been several international adaptations of the show. Countries where the show has been adapted include Canada (The job), Chile (The Office), France (The Office), Czech Republic (Kancl), Germany (Stromberg), India (The office), Israel (HaMisrad), Poland (The office), Saudi Arabia (Al Maktab) and Sweden (Office).
