Tito Jackson, original member of the Jackson 5, died at the age of 70, his family announced

Tito Jackson, one of the brothers who were members of the Jackson 5, has died, according to an Instagram post from his family on September 16.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Tito Jackson, is no longer with us,” began the post, written by his sons and featuring photos of him from years past.

“We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson of the legendary Jackson 5, others as ‘Coach Tito’ or still others as ‘Poppa T.'”

“However, we will miss him terribly. For us, it will always be ‘Tito time.’ Please remember to do what our father always preached, and that is ‘Love one another.’ We love you, Pops. Your boys, Taj, Taryll and TJ.”

Jackson was one of nine children in his family and part of the band “Jackson 5,” which became superstars and gave his most famous brother, Michael Jackson, a level of fame that few can achieve.

The Jackson 5 included Michael Jackson and Tito Jackson, as well as Marlon Jackson, Jackie Jackson and Jermaine Jackson. The band, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, released hits such as “I’ll Be There,” “ABC,” “I Want You Back” and “The Love You Share.”

Michael Jackson died in December 2009. Tito Jackson said his loss hit the family hard.

“I would definitely say it brought us one step closer. Realizing how much we love each other when one of us is gone is a huge loss,” he told the Associated Press six months after his brother’s death.

Tito Jackson also released solo music. His last album was 2021’s Under Your Spell. According to his website, a new single called “Love One Another” featuring 3T and Stevie Wonder is coming soon.
