The Brownsburg High School football team was in the national spotlight Friday morning.

Brownsburg, which is 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class 6A, was featured on the TODAY Show’s “Friday Morning Lights” segment. WTHR’s Dominic Miranda interviewed head coach John Hart at the high school for the clip, which was televised to a national audience.

“I truly believe that there is one of the best soccer fields in the world, especially in the Indianapolis area, but in the entire state of Indiana,” Hart said. “We have proven that. The Division I kids come from this area. It’s incredible.”

Hart said his team has been resilient this season.

“I think we had eight starting offensive linemen,” Hart said. “I think three different running backs. We had two different ones that played full time. We are a real team. The defense won us a ball game, special teams won us a ball game and the offense won us a ball game. “Doing all of those things is what got us to where we are.”

Behind Hart and his team was a passionate and vocal group of Brownsburg fans.

“We have to put headsets on just to talk,” Hart said of the crowds at Bulldog games. “It’s fun. The community, we’re a community school, man. This community loves us and we give that right back to them.”

Brownsburg hosts Noblesville (2-5) tonight.
