In a rematch of last year’s Class 6A championship game, the Trinity High School football team once again emerged victorious.

Second-year quarterback Zane Johnson threw two touchdown passes and Zach Floyd and Jamaurion Berry both scored to lead the Shamrocks to a 28-10 victory Friday in both teams’ season opener at Bryan Station.

Trinity defeated Bryan Station 41-20 last year to claim its 28th title.th State championship.

“It was a typical first game,” Trinity coach Jay Cobb said after Friday’s win. “There were enough mistakes to keep us busy for a month. It wasn’t very pretty. We missed a lot of opportunities. … The good news is the score and the fact that we won.”

Johnson completed 11 of 21 passes for 174 yards and touchdown passes to Kaleb Warner and Nation Roe-McBroom. Berry carried the ball 13 times for 137 yards.

Kaleb Washington carried the ball 18 times for 125 yards and scored a touchdown to lead Bryan Station.

Trinity is ranked No. 1 in the Courier Journal’s preseason coaches poll in Class 6A. Bryan Station is ranked No. 6.
