Tulsa County expects over 20,000 participants

Early voting begins across Oklahoma on October 30, and the Tulsa County Board of Elections secretary expects more than 20,000 people to choose this option to cast their ballot.

Tulsa County has a new primary early voting location, 12000 E Skelly Drive. The board of elections will move to that building next year, but plans to hold early voting there for this election because it has more space and parking than its current office at 555 North Denver Avenue. The current building will continue to be open for early voting. It is also the only location where mail-in ballots can be dropped off in person, only until November 4th at 5:00 p.m.

“We have plenty of space inside so we can get voters in, through the lines and out the door to vote as quickly as possible,” said Gwen Freeman, the board secretary.

The Board of Elections is currently processing mail-in ballots that will be counted on November 5th. The board reports that more than 23,000 absentee ballots have been mailed for Tulsa County, with nearly 9,000 already returned, which can be done by mail or in person.

“Make sure you do that by 5 p.m. the day before the election, and if you want to mail it, do it now,” Freeman said.

There are four days of early voting starting Wednesday, October 30th and running through Saturday, November 2nd.

Registration is now complete and the deadline for requesting a postal vote has expired. Voters can search for their precinct and view sample ballots through the Oklahoma voter portal.
