Two teachers have been suspended from a Texas elementary school for allegedly giving students special “stickers” to get them to sleep.

According to the Spring Independent School District, the incident occurred on September 24 and the teachers involved were “immediately removed from the classroom” pending a police investigation.

“The administration at Northgate Elementary was informed by a parent that her child was given a sleeping pill in the classroom by his teacher,” a statement shared with said The Independent read.

“Upon learning of the allegation, the teachers in this classroom were immediately fired and placed on administrative leave.” The district added that “as a precautionary measure,” two classroom support staff were also placed on administrative leave.

“The safety of our students is our top priority and we take any allegations of misconduct seriously,” the statement continued.

However, angry parents at the school claim they were not officially informed of the investigation by the school until two weeks after the alleged incident.

Speaking to ABC Houston, Lisa Luviano said her daughter came home from school and showed her a “sticker” with pictures of a moon, stars and clouds on it.

“She said, ‘It’s a sleep sticker,'” she told the outlet. “I asked, ‘Where did you get that?’ And she said, “My teacher gives it to me to sleep in.” “The next day we went to school. We took the evidence there and filed a report. We said we wanted to press charges if this was true.”

Luviano said she texted other parents at school about the incident. Najla Abdullah asked her four-year-old son if he had also received a sticker.

“He said, ‘Yes, Mom. “I get a special sticker,” Abdullah told ABC. “I said, ‘What does it look like?’ He said, ‘I have it right here on my hand, and it shows the storms with the clouds and the star and the moon.'”

Both parents reported that their children had difficulty falling asleep when they returned home from school.

SISD has not identified the teachers involved, but said the alleged behavior violated its board policy, FFAC.

The policy states: “No employee shall provide students with prescription, non-prescription medications, herbal substances, anabolic steroids, or dietary supplements of any kind unless authorized by this or another district policy.”

Parents are now wondering how long the alleged distribution of sleep stickers took and whether their children were still given any.

“This teacher broke my trust. We opened our hearts to it,” Luviano told ABC.
