The first debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will take place Tuesday night in Philadelphia, leaving potential voters wondering when the vice presidential candidates will take the debate stage.

CBS News announced last month that Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Republican Senator JD Vance have both agreed to participate in a debate hosted by the network on Tuesday, October 1.

According to CBS News, the network proposed four dates for a debate between the two vice presidential candidates: September 17, September 24, October 1 and October 8. Both campaign teams soon agreed on October 1.

“See you October 1st, JD,” Walz posted August 14 on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Vance accepted the October 1 debate the following day, while also proposing a September 18 debate on CNN. Michael Tyler, the communications director for Harris’ campaign, told CBS News later that day that Walz would only participate in the October 1 debate.
