Video: JD Vance has trouble with small talk during embarrassing visit to a donut shop

An employee at a Georgia donut shop did not want to be seen on video with Republican Senator JDVance of Ohio when Donald Trump’s running mate visited the venue with a camera crew before his speech in Valdosta, Georgia.

The Republican vice presidential candidate is struggling to shake off the “weird” label his political opponent, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, gave him early in his campaign, and the awkward interaction between him and the waiter is unlikely to help him in that process.

Vance, who was waiting for someone to come behind the counter to serve him, began his conversation with the waiters by joking that “the zoo has come to town.” The employee’s only response was a request not to be filmed.

He tried again.

“I’m JD Vance. I’m running for vice president,” Vance said, to which the doughnut shop waitress simply replied, “Okay.”

To correct the interaction, Vance’s arms immediately became glued to his hips as he paced the display, checking his doughnut options before saying, “We’re doing two dozen. Just a random selection of stuff here.”

“Everything. Lots of frosting here. Sprinkles. Lots of cinnamon rolls. Just anything that makes sense,” he added.
