Voter turnout is “not where we want it to be”

Voter turnout is “not where we want it to be”

One of Donald Trump’s most ardent online supporters made a hysterical appeal to voters on Tuesday afternoon to go to the polls as he feared turnout could drop “to zero.”

“The turnout is mixed and not what we would like. We need more voters,” Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point Action and a steadfast younger voice in the Republican Party, posted on X.

“Text everyone you know. Make more noise. We need more,” he added.

At the start of a later livestream on Rumble, optimistically titled “Judgment Day,” Kirk also lamented “a lot of uncertainty” about how voting might proceed in the following hours and urged Pennsylvania voters to get in touch via email. “if you have clarity about what is happening” in the crucial swing state.

“Empty your phone – text everyone you know who isn’t a liberal, text every single one of your friends and ask them: Did you vote, did you vote, did you vote?” he added added later. “This thing is going to be really tight, it’s going to be very tight. The work you do in the next few hours will be really important.”

Kirk, 31, who previously defended Trump supporters who laid siege to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, has become an outsized presence in the Trump camp in recent weeks as part of the GOP’s efforts to mobilize young male voters Republican gained.

These efforts were implemented in part as part of Kirk’s “You’re Being Brainwashed Tour,” during which he stopped at liberal-leaning colleges across the U.S. to discuss a variety of hot-button election issues with students on campus, especially recently in company of former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Kirk’s organization, Turning Point, has also been instrumental in introducing Republican candidates to citizens in key states like Arizona and Wisconsin, so much so that the group described itself as the “official arm of the Trump campaign.” Associated Press.

As an evangelical Christian, Kirk’s rhetoric often focuses on the perceived threat to traditional values allegedly posed by the Harris campaign. He had previously described the Democratic Party as “standing for everything God hates” and described voting as a “spiritual battle” between good and evil.

He has also regularly supported Trump’s flatly debunked claims of voter fraud in 2020 and made other baseless claims of voter abuse in the run-up to the current election.
