Walmart customer warns against online orders

A Walmart customer reported being scammed by the store, which sparked a discussion about the store’s policies on who can sell merchandise from its stores online.

In a viral TikTok clip that has garnered over 11,000 views, user Kenz (@kenzqueen13) explained how an online purchase left her questioning whether or not she could trust shopping with the retailer.

“Please tell me I’m not the only one who got scammed at Walmart,” read the text superimposed over the clip.

An online order from Walmart

She then explained what happened when she tried to purchase a basic item from the retailer.

“I was easily persuaded to buy this super cheap Summer Fridays Lip Balm at Walmart,” she explained. “I ordered a two-pack for about six dollars, it was amazing.”

The content creator said she should have known the offer was “too good to be true,” but acted against her better judgment and made the purchase anyway.

Especially because many people on TikTok vouched for the company and said they had received the product.

However, she waited quite a long time and never received what she ordered.

What she received instead

“I waited two weeks for mine,” she continued. “I opened it and this is what came out.”

As she spoke, the woman held up what looked like an empty small plastic container.

“This is not Summer Friday lip balm,” she said. “I have no idea what it even is.”

Ultimately, the dissatisfied customer wondered if she had received the item by mistake and if the same thing had happened to anyone before.

Viewers discuss Walmart’s online store policies

In the comments section, many discussed Walmart’s online store policies.

“Walmart lets people sell things as private sellers,” wrote user Sarah Socha. “It’s like eBay.”

“I will never trust him again,” the TikToker replied to the comment.

According to Walmart’s website, only “qualified businesses” are allowed to sell on the store’s online marketplace. The store reviews a company’s catalog, operations and other business information before deciding whether or not it can participate in the marketplace.

“This allows us to ensure that sellers can provide the same high quality to all of our Walmart.com customers,” the website states.

Others said in the comments of the clip that they bought their lip balm from the online marketplace.

“I also ordered 2 and received them within a week,” commented user Callie Frazier.

However, some noted that the product was not exactly the same as the popular lip balm brand.

“Don’t worry, I got it too and it was a fake version,” warned one user.
