Walmart and Burger King announced a new partnership on Thursday to offer Walmart+ members a daily discount on digital Burger King orders, effective immediately, the companies said in a statement.

The dining perk includes 25% off digital orders every day and a free Whopper with any purchase every three months starting in September. To activate the offer, Walmart+ members must link their membership to Burger King’s free Royal Perks loyalty program. Once accounts are linked, Walmart+ members can take advantage of the offer through the Burger King app or website.

The benefit, which comes at no additional cost to the member, is Walmart’s way of adding value to the membership, said Venessa Yates, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+. According to statistics from Enterprise Apps Today’s Fast Food Industry Statistics 2024, Walmart said most Americans eat at quick-service restaurants several times a week. The retailer said the new Burger King benefits are designed to appeal to busy people who don’t have the time or inclination to shop for groceries and cook.

“We continually strive to offer benefits that are focused on our members and align with our commitment to providing undeniable value and convenience,” Yates said. “We are confident our members will welcome the additional savings and we are excited to partner with a trusted brand like Burger King to offer this benefit.”

Walmart+ launched in 2020. The program’s memberships grew by double digits in the second quarter, the company said last week. Membership costs $98 per year. Other membership benefits include free same-day grocery delivery on orders over $35, free shipping with no minimum purchase, fuel discounts and streaming with Paramount+. Walmart’s global revenue rose 4.8% year over year to $169.3 billion in the second quarter.

The partnership between Walmart and Burger King comes shortly after Amazon and Grubhub announced an expanded alliance. In May, Amazon announced that Prime members would receive a $120 annual Grubhub+ membership. The retailer and food delivery company began working together in 2022, offering a one-year free trial of Grubhub+. Prime currently costs $139 per year.
