Walmart in Madison unveils renovation

By DUNCAN DENT

MADISON — The Walmart Supercenter here unveiled a complete store remodel last week that includes new signage, associate technology, a Madison-themed mural and a 6,000-square-foot order pickup area.

Store manager Russ Alexander said he and his employees have received several “compliments” from Walmart customers since the remodel was unveiled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the Walmart Supercenter on Grandview Boulevard.

“The response was very positive and there is more going on in the store,” says Alexander.

The pickup area separates part of the south side of the store from the rest of the mall.

“It’s less crowded, so our customers can get on and off,” Alexander said.

This also includes 40 new parking spaces for the pick-up area.

Alexander said the renovation took about 16 weeks.

“We are back and better than ever and ready to be the business of this community,” Alexander said.

At the grand opening, Alexander and other Walmart employees presented a check for $1,500 to the American Cancer Society, school supplies and emergency bags to Madison Avenue Elementary, and a large basket of pet supplies to the Webster Animal Shelter.

MAE Director Dr. Kristal Pollard Epting said Walmart has donated a number of backpacks to enable an emergency plan that will provide teachers in classrooms with a bag containing essential items such as class lists and other emergency supplies.
