Walmart+ partners with Burger King to offer exclusive discounts on restaurant visits

Walmart+ has introduced its first-ever food benefit as part of a new partnership with Burger King.

Starting immediately, Walmart+ members will receive 25% off all digital orders made through the Burger King app or website. Starting next month, members will also receive a free flame-grilled Whopper with every purchase every three months. This initiative aims to increase the value of Walmart+ membership by offering convenient savings for people with busy lifestyles who frequently eat at fast-food restaurants.

Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer of Burger King North America, was enthusiastic about the collaboration.

“Burger King has long been known for offering guests high-quality products at a great value – an approach shared by our friends at Walmart, so this partnership is a natural fit. We are thrilled to be the first dining partner to join the Walmart+ program and look forward to offering Walmart+ members even more savings on their favorite flame-grilled Burger King meals.”

This new benefit reflects Walmart+’s ongoing commitment to providing value and convenience to its members. Venessa Yates, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Walmart+, emphasized the importance of this collaboration.

“Adding a Burger King benefit to our Walmart+ membership portfolio is exciting. We continually strive to offer benefits that are focused on our members and align with our commitment to providing undeniable value and convenience. We’re confident our members will welcome the additional savings, and we’re excited to partner with a trusted brand like Burger King to offer this benefit.”

Members can easily redeem their benefits by linking their Walmart+ account to their Burger King Royal Perks account through the BK app or website. Once linked, they will have access to the discount and quarterly Whopper deal at participating locations.

In other Walmart news, Walmart captured a record 37% share of the U.S. online grocery market in the second quarter of 2024, significantly increasing its share while traditional supermarkets declined. Walmart’s growth is driven by its low prices and efficient omnichannel strategy, which appeals to consumers looking for bargains amid rising inflation.

Walmart leads in both grocery delivery and curbside pickup, holding nearly 58% of the pickup market and nearly half of delivery revenue. The company’s success is bolstered by its Walmart+ program and its own delivery services. Despite competition from Amazon, which is struggling with its expansion into grocery, Walmart’s extensive store network and improved e-commerce operations cement its top position.
