Walmart submits plans for a new supercenter. Here’s where it’s going

A plan to build a new Walmart Supercenter has been submitted in Lebanon, according to planning board documents submitted to the city.

The new Walmart will be located on a site of just over 33 acres at the northeast corner of State Route 109 and Wilson Farms Boulevard, just south of Interstate 40.

The main building of the supercenter will be just over 16,000 square meters. According to Lebanon’s planning authority, a gas station is also part of the development plan.

If approved, the future Walmart would be located between a Walmart in Mt. Juliet on Pleasant Grove Road north of I-40 and the Walmart in Lebanon on South Cumberland Street north of I-40.

The area along Highway 109 in Lebanon has seen significant residential development in recent years.

“Highway 109 has become an important commercial corridor for Lebanon,” said Mayor Rick Bell. “The opening of Walmart would continue that trend.”

“It’s important to our citizens who live in this area, and it’s important to the continued growth of our sales tax base. Highway 109 is also a regional route that provides an opportunity to receive sales tax money from people in other cities.”

Sam’s Club has also submitted a plan to build a new store on Willard Hagan Drive along South Hartmann Drive in Lebanon.

Sam’s Club, a membership retail store, is a division of Walmart.
