Walt Disney World ends emergency shelter in place for resort guests following Hurricane Milton, Disney Springs remains closed today

Walt Disney World has lifted its recommendation for resort guests to continue sheltering indoors following Hurricane Milton. Additionally, Disney Springs remains closed today.

The update for guests to shelter in place at their resort hotel was removed from the Weather Updates page on the Walt Disney World website at 9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, October 10. Earlier this morning, guests were advised to stay indoors as Disney assessed damage caused to the resort by Hurricane Milton.

Additionally, Disney confirmed that the shopping and dining district will remain closed on Thursday, October 10, despite initial hopes of reopening Disney Springs later this afternoon.

Currently, Walt Disney World Resort is closed until today, Thursday, October 10th. This includes all theme parks, Disney Springs, the Disney Springs parking garages, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park and the two Disney mini golf courses. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party has also been canceled for tonight and tickets for the event have been refunded.

The expiry date of partially used multi-day tickets will be adjusted so that they will now expire on October 11, 2025. Disney will not enforce cancellation policies for dining and other bookable experiences until further notice. Prepaid bookable offers will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.

Walt Disney World transportation and Minnie Van service are currently unavailable.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are temporarily closed. They are expected to remain closed until Sunday, October 13th.

Select dining options will continue to operate for guests staying at Disney Resort hotels. Guests are encouraged to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest updates. Guests are also encouraged to plan ahead and stop by any food court or quick service restaurant to pre-order breakfast and lunch for today, October 10th.

Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels can enjoy the following activities:

  • Free Disney movies in your resort hotel room
  • Visits from surprise characters and more in the lobby
  • Free play in the arcades from 4 p.m
  • Normal opening hours for fitness centers
