Warriors’ Steph Curry sprained his left ankle in the game against the Clippers and will undergo an MRI on Sunday night

SAN FRANCISCO – Steph Curry twisted his left ankle twice during the Golden State Warriors’ 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday, limped to the locker room and left the stadium for the night with a sprained left ankle, according to the team officially called.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Curry described his sprain as “mild” and “moderate.” Kerr said Curry will undergo an MRI on Sunday evening.

“He doesn’t think it’s that bad,” Kerr said. “But obviously it’s a problem.”

The first turning point came at the end of the third quarter. Curry limped to the bench and called for a substitution, but didn’t go to the locker room after discussing it with team coach Drew Yoder. Curry instead asked for an exercise band to stretch on the bench.

Curry sat until midway through the fourth quarter, grimacing as he tried to apply pressure. He entered at 8:08 and shot it again within 10 seconds while setting up a screen in the left corner.

Curry’s pain was immediately obvious. He limped to the corner, called for a substitution, then limped back, followed by Rick Celebrini, the lead medical decision-maker. General manager Mike Dunleavy walked down the tunnel moments later to check on Curry. The team ruled him out soon after.
