Nebraska appears to be bouncing back in Week 5 as it travels on the road for the first time this college football season.

The Cornhuskers (3-1, 0-1 in Big Ten play) travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, on Saturday to face Purdue (1-2, 0-0) at noon at Ross-Ade Stadium. Matt Rhule’s team won the Big Ten West Division duel in Lincoln last year with 31:14.

Led by freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, Nebraska suffered a 31-24 overtime loss to Illinois last week. The loss dropped Nebraska from both the US LBM Coaches and AP Top 25 polls.

Purdue has lost each of its last two games, the most recent coming last week in Week 5 on the road at Oregon State. In the 38-21 loss to the Beavers, Boilermakers running back Devin Mockobee ran for 168 yards and a touchdown. Mockobee ranks ninth in the Big Ten with 276 rushing yards this season.

Sam King Prediction: Nebraska 30, Purdue Football 20

The Boilermakers are rebounding in terms of competitiveness, but there is data from three games (or four in Nebraska’s case) that says these teams are not currently playing at the same level.

Unless Purdue’s defense shows it can come out on top and not give in to chunk plays outside of the tackles, it’s hard to believe the Boilers will beat anyone. If the same thing continues on Saturday, Nebraska’s running game, which isn’t a strength, could get a boost.
