Watch Selena Gomez’s first appearance in the “Wizards” reboot

ANAHEIM, California – With Wizards Beyond Waverly Place set to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year, the studio has released a first look at the series’ production.

Check out the first look here.

The first look features behind-the-scenes moments with the series’ main cast, including David Henrie and Janice LeAnn Brown (Billie), as well as executive producer and first episode guest star Selena Gomez.

“Who remembers the original Wizards of Wavery Place?” Henrie asks the studio audience. “We wanted to recreate that magic for a new generation.”

Viewers will see never-before-seen footage from the show, including scenes between Henrie, who plays Justin Russo, and Gomez, who plays his sister Alex Russo.

“Billie is rebellious and stubborn, sarcastic…” Alex says. “Sounds like someone I know,” Justin replies. “Haha, like me. I get it,” she replies jokingly and the studio erupts in laughter.

We get some insights into new stunts, pranks and magic spells, as well as a look back at the cave that viewers came to love in the original Wizards of Wavery Place.

“This brings me back,” says Alex.

The synopsis of the series is as follows: “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows adult Justin Russo, who has decided to live a normal, mortal life with his family Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie home for help, Justin realizes he must brush up on his magical skills to mentor the sorceress-in-training while also fulfilling his everyday duties – and securing the future of the wizarding world.”

The cast also includes Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as Winter), and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo). David DeLuise also returns as Jerry Russo in a guest role.

“Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” is scheduled to premiere later this year on Disney Channel and Disney+.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of the Disney Channel, Disney+ and this ABC channel.
